Dive in Kubu

INFORMATION

Kubu is a couple of minute drive North of Tulamben and exhibit a few dive spots worth to look at. To dive Kubu, it is better to hold an Advanced Diver certification as some of its sites are quite deep.

The Boga Wreck was a patrolled ship used by the Indonesian government and was voluntarily sunk in order to offer more diving opportunities in the area. It’s 53m long and sits vertically on a sandy slope between 18 and 37m depth. The wreck is easily penetrable as long as divers have good buoyancy control. Cars, motorbikes and other objects have been placed inside to increase its points of interest. Marine life have started colonizing the wreck, batfish and barracudas are often spotted swimming around the area. You can spot interesting macro life forms on the seafloor around the shipwreck.

Dive Kubu’s walls  or shallow reefs to enjoy colourful soft corals and massive coral bommies. Enjoy the swarming fish along the reefs, look for octopus between the corals, or find schooling batfish in the blue. In Kubu sometimes currents can be present, which attract bigger forms of marine life, so we recommend it for certified divers only.
