You can depart from Kuta, Seminyak, Sanur, Denpasar, Ubud, Menjangan to go towards Amed. You need to present yourself in one of the numerous PERAMA offices or PERAMA pick up points. In some area, PERAMA may be able to pick you up at your hotel for a small extra fee. You can contact us, we can book for you your PERAMA Bus tickets and let you know where is the closest office/pick up point from your hotel.

If the PERAMA schedule is too early for you, Kuta/Seminyak/Sanur area abounds with travel agent boots that will offer shuttle bus services to various destinations around Bali. Prices may vary according to locations and companies so shop around for a rate and departure time that works for you. Those shuttle bus services usually rely on a minimum amount of passengers (2min for Amed) so you might be limited if you are travelling alone. They will normally pick you up at your hotel so need to worry about getting to the main office but picking up other passengers may extend a bit your travel time.

You have also the option of renting your own transport for the time of your holidays. Numerous travellers rent motorbikes and go all around Bali that way. It is the cheapest way of travelling but maybe not the safest…Depending on companies you may be able to rent your vehicle from one place and drop it somewhere else, most places will ask you to return the vehicle where you got it. Getting to Amed by road is pretty easy, you can just follow the East coast road towards the North.

Few Tips:

  1. Remember we drive on the left in Indonesia and traffic may be intense!
  2. International driving licence are usually required. Get one for free from your government before you go on holidays and keep your national driving licence as well. It will allow you to avoid the fines from the local police.
  3. Road signs for direction are sometimes seldom but locals will be happy to help you if you get lost or get one of the cheap local SIM card for internet and use GPS!

From the Gilis & Lombok

We have a few speed boats companies that will bring you from the Gilis to Amed or the other way around. Amed to Lombok is the cheapest, the shortest and also the calmest in terms of sea conditions so this route is becoming more and more popular. It will take you only about 45min according to the weather to make the trip! Most of the companies can drop you to either in Trawangan, Meno, Gili Air or the local harbour on Lombok just let them know where to drop you and don’t miss your stop! Speedboats leave everyday (except on Nyepi!) between 8.30 and 9.30am from Amed and will return between 12.30 to 1.30pm to Amed on the same day.
